Construction in the Yellowhead region of Alberta includes work atpump stations,rayappand trenchless crossings usinghorizontal directional drilling (HDD). Recently, Midwest Pipelines remobilized followingspring break-upand has started right-of-way pipeline construction in the Edson area.

To prepare for construction elsewhere in the region, access roads and temporary approaches are being built. Clearing of the right-of-way is currently on hold to allow for bird migration but will continue in the coming months.

Progress is being made at two major HDDs in the Yellowhead region under McLeod River and Hardisty Creek. In July, the entry and exit sites for the crossings were set up, including the installation of sound walls to reduce noise disruption for adjacent neighbours. Drilling is currently underway at both sites.

Work has also been progressing at the Gainford, Wolf, Edson and Hinton Pump Stations. On site, excavation is underway to accommodate new piping and the installation of an additional pump station at each site. Pile driving will also take place at each pump station to provide support for the new infrastructure being built.

At the Edson Pump Station, installation of rebar for the foundations is being done in anticipation for the upcoming concrete pour.

At Gainford and Hinton, sump tank excavation is also progressing.
